Every year, on the auspicious day of Mahashivratri, the city of Vadodara in Gujarat comes alive with a spectacular event known as Shivji ki Savari. This grand chariot procession, organized by the Satyam Shivam Sundaram Samiti, is a cherished tradition that draws thousands of devotees across the region.
The highlight of the procession is a magnificent chariot carrying the idols of Lord Shiva's family. Atop a huge Nandi (Shiva's bull mount) sit Lord Shiva himself, his wife Goddess Parvati, and their sons Ganesha and Kartikeya. Adding to the divine ensemble is an idol of the sage Naradmuni.
