Gangasagar Mela is believed to be the second largest mela after Kumbh Mela visited by lakhs of people.
On the day of Makara Sankranti pilgrims take a holy dip in the Ganga in the morning till noon and then pray at the Kapil Muni Temple. In the evening, thousands of diyas are lit up and the Ganga aarti is performed.

The Gangasagar Mela is organized every year on 14 January and 15 January in Gangasagar Dwip, which is part of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
Main Attraction of Ganga Sagar Mela 2025
Holy Dip: Devotees take a dip in the holy water of the Ganges and Bay of Bengal confluenced and named Gangasagar. This process is called Ganga Snan. Pilgrims believe that Ganga Snan will wash away all their sins and offer offerings to the lord Suriya and chant the Surya mantra.
Kapil Muni Temple: Devotees offer prayers at the Kapil Muni Temple, Which is 1.8 KM away to get the blessings of the saint after the Ganga snan.
Mela Ground: This is the main attraction of Gangasagar Mela. The Mela features musical performances, traditional dances, and cultural events showcasing the region's rich heritage.
Naga Sadhus: The most horrifying yet beautiful experience can be meeting with Naga Sadhus. Naga Sadhus generally don't wear clothes or wear minimum clothes, cover their body with human ashes, and perform various rituals and rites for the pilgrims at the fair.

Sajnekhali: Sajnekhali getaway of Sundorbon world's largest mangrove area. Sundarbans translates to ‘Beautiful Forest’. Sundarbans have been 27 tigers spotted in the area. Aside from tigers, the Sajnekhali forest is home to fishing cats, wild boar, macaques, flying foxes, Chital, pangolin, and other wildlife. The most sought-after views for a bird watcher are the seven colorful Kingfisher species, the White-bellied Sea Eagle, Plovers, Lap-Wings, Curfews, Whimprels, Sandpipers, and the rare pelican.
