Located 3.2 km from Ooty Bus Station, the Government Botanical Garden is Ooty's top attraction. The Department of Horticulture and Plantation Crops maintains this garden. The East India Company established it in 1848.
William Graham McIvor designed and completed the layout of this garden in 1867. Well-maintained lawns, rare species of plants, and colorful flower plants can be seen here. You can experience fresh air and a calm and peaceful environment here.
Government Botanical Garden is a perfect place to enjoy as a solo traveler, and with friends and family. You will also find a fossilised tree here that is believed to be 20 million years old. The annual flower show is conducted here during the Ooty Summer Festival.
