Constructed in the year 1931, India Gate is a symbol of the sacrifice and dedication of our Indian soldiers. India Gate was designed by Edwin Lutyens to honor the 90,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives in World War I.
Also called the India War Memorial, it has 13,516 names of Indian and British soldiers engraved on its arch and foundations. These soldiers died during the Afghan War of 1919.India Gate has Amar Jawan Jyoti which was built as a tribute to Indian Soldiers who gave their lives in the Indo-Pakistan War of December 1971.
India Gate draws thousands of visitors every day, making it one of the most popular spots in Delhi. Situated at the end of the Rajpath stretch, it's a perfect place to unwind at the India Gate Lawns or enjoy a picnic with family and kids.
