About Kotilingeshwara Temple

Maha Shivaratri holds special significance, drawing a multitude of devotees to the temple on this auspicious day. The temple is conveniently accessible from the gold fields of Kolar.

Located in Kolar, the Kotilingeshwara Temple boasts a towering Shivalinga standing at 33 meters, making it the tallest in the world. Accompanying this remarkable feature is an 11-meter-tall Basava statue, surrounded by numerous Shivalingas scattered throughout the area. The project aims to establish one crore Shivalingas, hence the name Kotilingeshwara, with approximately one hundred lakh Shivalingas currently in place.

In the area, there are several temples including the Goddess Annapoorneshwari Temple, Goddess Karumaari Amma Temple, Lord Venkataramani Swamy Temple, Lord Panduranga Swamy Temple, Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana Temple, Lord Panchamukha Ganapathy Temple, Lord Anjaneya Temple, and Goddess Kannika Parameshwari Temple. Additionally, there are two special flower trees named Nagalinga and Cannon Ball where many unmarried women pray for a happy married life.

At Kotilingeshwara Temple in Kolar, there are accommodation facilities available for devotees with rest houses within the temple premises. Additionally, the temple hosts free mass marriages annually, conducted by priests accompanied by drums, music, and chants. Presently, approximately twenty weddings take place here each week. Moreover, there is a meditation hall provided for devotees seeking a tranquil space for meditation.

By Road: Distance: 80 KM from KR Puram / Whitefield. Kolar is at a distance of 2.5 hours from Bangalore.

By Bus: Regular buses ply from Majestic and KR Puram bus stop every few hours.

By Air: The nearest airport is Bangalore Airport. Travelers arriving at the airport have the option to hire cabs or utilize public transportation to reach Kolar.

By Rail: The nearest railway junction is Bangarpet, approximately 15 km away.
