Arthi

Sankey Tank in Bangalore, located near Vyalikaval, Malleshwaram, and Sadashivanagar, is a 37.5-acre manmade lake. The State Forest Department manages the lake, and the Maurya Sankey Boat Club, overseen by KSTDC, provides various boat rides, including rowboats, pedal boats, and motorboats. Visitors can enjoy boating to and from the island in the middle of the lake at minimal charges.

Colonel Richard Hieram Sankey of the Madras Sappers Regiment oversaw the construction of this artificial tank in 1882. Initially known as Gandhadhakotikere, it was built to meet the water supply needs of Bangalore City. The tank earned its name as the Government Sandalwood Depot was situated nearby.
