About Aravindam India Gurukul
Aravindam India Gurukul started 14 years ago as a library for underprivileged children in Gurugram, by Dr Lokesh Abrol, a doctor by profession. That library has today grown into a team of dedicated tutors and classical trainers, led by Bindesh Bharti and Uma Sharma, teaching Bharatiya heritage arts skills and academics, to over 300 children of humble means, free of cost, under the trees at a municipal waterworks adjacent to the Gurugram rail line.
The daughters and sons you see on stage, have battled extreme odds, to bring their offering of love and devotion to their art. They attend schools, work odd jobs, and yet find time and energy to weave magic through music and dance.
About the Choreographer: Vaishnavi Sushila Vitthal
Vaishnavi was introduced to Aravindam India Gurukul, as Bharatnatyam Trainer in 2020 by her Guru, the renowned Bharatnatyam maestro Smt Rama Vaidyanathan ji on the recommendation of the acclaimed Kathak Guru Rajendra Gangani ji. In 2017 she acted in Marathi film Khwada, that won the National award for best regional language film. She is presently acting in her second film, with more lined up. She often puts her acting career on hold, for her passion of Bharatnatyam.
